It’s that time of the year again – the month of May, when Facebook and Instagram feeds are filled with images dedicated to moms. Yeah its sweet, but anyone can post a pic of their mom on Facebook - it’s an easy thing to do, like buying a card or a bunch of flowers.
Mother’s Day is about more than just giving a ‘shoutout’ on social media with a pic and a quick ‘thank you’. It’s about celebrating your mom, telling her why you really love her and truly thanking her.
Here are the top 5 things we are thanking our moms for this Mother’s Day.
Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made
You willing chose to endure 9 months of being uncomfortable and hangry just for me. All the sleepless nights you had comforting me. All the grey hairs (you called them ‘strands of glitter’) you grew from the stress I caused. You truly put your life on hold to help create the person I am today.
Thank you for being my hero
I try so hard to be like you. I have never stopped aspiring to be as compassionate, kind and loving as you are. You have set a foundation and standard for me to look up to and admire. Thank you for inspiring me to become the women I am today.
Thank you for your unconditional support, friendship and love
You have always been my biggest cheerleader, supporting me each day to achieve my goals. There have been times where I’ve wanted to give up, but each time you’ve been there to remind me of my worth. You always taught me to reach for the stars and never settle for anything less than I deserved. You are my best friend and always have been. You have always shown me how to love others and myself.
Thank you for teaching me about self-worth
You taught me how to self-love. To celebrate my own unique essence. To spoil myself, take care of myself and put myself first. Getting ‘dolled up’ isn’t about impressing anyone, but rather about expressing myself. Getting my nails done is about making myself feel good. Doing my hair and makeup is about giving me confidence. It’s not selfish to love yourself, pamper yourself and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary and I am thankful that you showed me that.
Thank you for being you
You’re so beautiful, inside and out. You've gone above and beyond for me and created so many amazing memories for me. Most importantly, you've shown me what a mother is. You've set the bar for being a parent so amazingly high that if I'm half as good as you are, I'd be so proud.
